Moylan Family Version

The cast is nearly exclusively (with the exception of Solomon Doyle) made up of the Moylan family. Sadly the other Catholic family in the neighborhood, did not want to take active part. We  spent only about $200 for this movie and it was filmed entirely on the Big Island of Hawaii, most of it being done in the house, neighborhood and jungle which are now covered by black volcanic rock from the lava flow of 2018. We completed the filming in the space of the three summer months in 2014, and we also had to work around the difficulty of a tropical storm (Hurricane Iselle) that took out the power in our area for a week. I, Marcellus Moylan, was a seminarian at that time. The rescue scene when Muckle John goes to get Sir James of Gordon out of prison was filmed in a real lava tube/cave in our old neighborhood. The hardest scenes to film were the "Mercy of a Coward" and "The Last Stand of the Old Earl". When young James Gordon is beaten and bleeding from his nose after Bertrand abuses him, that is Marcus-Marie's own real blood.

Prior to making "Outlaws of Ravenhurst", (which was a biggest production to date) we had made several other family plays and movies, including "Servant, Sinner, Empress" on St. Adelaide of Italy (it is on YouTube in several parts), "The Dreamer" scenes from the life of St. John Bosco (which is on Vimeo).

Miriam Moylan, whom we always considered the best actress in our family, was quite the perfect role for Lady Margaret and she constantly repeated the quote: "They thought me to be dying" because she was rather ill during the whole year of 2014.
